International Tax Reporting for U.S. Citizens

1 CPE for AFSP, EA, CFP®, CPA, CRTP

Several years post-TCJA, there are still many tax practitioners who are not aware of the required international tax reporting for their clients, including controlled foreign corporations (CFC reporting), Form 5471, Information Return of U.S. Persons With Respect To Certain Foreign Corporations, and passive foreign investment companies (PFICs), to name a few. During this session, we will address reporting issues created when a U.S. individual owns a foreign entity.

Objectives
Upon completion of this session, you will be able to:

  • Outline international tax reporting requirements such as Form 5471, global intangible low-taxed income (GILTI) and high tax exceptions

  • Summarize commonly missed reporting requirements
